Once Google plus started about two months ago, people began to take paralleles between two giant Internet titans-Facebook and Google. Some people called this battle, others even added that in this battle only one will survive, but lets for a moment forget about all these! It is just a big business.

Yes its easy and logical to draw parallels between Google plus and Facebook because both of them are social networks, but in reality the two are actually different.

The main thing to consider in a product is its purpose. From this point they have quite different purposes, at least now.

Facebook aims to connect friends, keep in contact with them and to show your relationships. It is some kind of personal space.

Google plus tends to go more in discovery. It is more about content then simply connecting friends. Yes, you can see news feed in Facebook as well, but Google plus has a search button, which makes every information  easy to reach.

If you look closer, you’ll see that these are different “battles”: Google+ is driven by search, while Facebook is driven by human interactions.

The release of Google+ made me happy not only because I am a big Google user but because I love when there is a competition in the market.  Google  plus is becoming a big competitor for Facebook , when it comes to social, and this sounds good for me. For a while ago Facebook has become boring because nothing was changed in it for a big while. But it was enough to have the sounds of a real competitor and Facebook rose from a deep sleep. Now every day we find something new in Facebook. It even doesn’t matter we love these changes or not, the changes are made and this is important!

Facebook has done amazing things with photos and videos, it is launching a new profile design and many other things are expected, it is a big wakeup.

This “battle” seems to me not for surviving but a battle for a better quality.

However, if this is considered to be a battle then Google plus has strong wiining cards:

• Google has many other services including Google Maps, Google Documents, YouTube, Google Flight, Google Voice, etc., this may encourage Google users to adopt Google plus in order to have everything in one place.
• Google plus is coming as if to take the role of Facebook, Twitter and Skype at the same time: it gives an opportunity to do social networking, to search for information and to make advanced video chats.
• And the biggest advantage of Google is its enormous Internet reach, which no other company is providing.

But the main thing that should concern us-the users, is the fact that all these services are free, so why not to use both of them unless you’ll find the one to be your only? This way you’ll end up being a real winner;).
