Start Chromoting with New Google Chrome Remote Desktop

Another great news announced by Google the day before was the new Chrome Remote Desktop extension available for free download at Chrome Web Store. Actually Google Chromium team has been working on this project for quite a while and the result didn’t leave us disappointed.

Chrome Remote Desktop extension is there to bring tough competition to the market by offering another free service available just from your browser. Having installed Chrome remote desktop in your Google Chrome browser you can share your entire PC and connect to another one using one-time authentication codes. Chrome Remote Desktop is a cross-platform application which allows you to connect to PCs with different OS. All you need is a Chrome browser installed in interacting PCs. I tried to connect my Dell laptop running Windows 7 to an iMac and it worked perfectly!

Chrome Remote Desktop is currently in BETA mode, which according to Google’s official message is needed to demonstrate the core technology and get feedbacks.

This new extension is also available and most in handy for Chromebooks running Chrome OS, which is nothing but a chrome browser in a whole laptop. Chrome Remote Desktop answers to some of the sharpest criticism on Chromebooks and strengthens the concept even more.

Using Chrome Remote Desktop is very easy and very speedy if you have a good internet connection. You just need to have Google account to download and start using the extension.

If you want to share your computer you simply click on the “Share This Computer” button and Chrome Remote Desktop extension generates a one-time authentication code which you will need to pass to your contact.

… and that’s it! You can manage remotely the whole PC up to system changes!
