IceCream Sandwich Ready to Go on Samsung Galaxy Nexus

After having postponed Google-Samsung event from 11th October to 19th  now the whole world is stuck to their screens watching first promo video of the new smartphone- Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Though most of us unconsciously waited for “Nexus Prime”, we got the same thing with “Galaxy Nexus” label.

Officially now Samsung Galaxy Nexus is the first carrier of Android IceCream Sandwich 4.0 OS, which we have covered in detail in previous posts.

The phone has some great features anticipated by the audience and some surprises as well. Some of the greatest features of Galaxy Nexus include; Roboto new typeface, landscape controls, flexible widgets, folders, favorites tray, improved copy past, etc.

There are two features of Android IceCream Sandwich that we consider worth explaining in more detail; Face unlock and Android beam.

Face Unlock

This is one of Google’s most challenging features in Galaxy Nexus. Face unlock enables smartphone holders to unlock the device with facial recognition. No password needed. Just configure the phone to recognize your brilliant smile and no one will be able to unlock your Galaxy Nexus without your original face! :)

 Android Beam

Using near field communication (NFC) Google has developed Android Beam feature, which allows users to share  webpages, YouTube videos, maps, directions and apps by simply tapping two phones together. No Bluetooth needed, just two devices both running Android IceCream Sandwich and that’s it!

The device has been introduced today morning in Hong Kong at Google-Samsung event. Galaxy Nexus will be available in USA, Canada, Europe and Asia starting November 2011.
